A control valve for a hydraulic booster steering system provides gradual control of inlet flow to the system pump to complete cut off of output, or by throttling of inlet flow to effect a pilot stream through the pressure pump. This occurs in the neutral position of the control valve during straight ahead steering. Where flow through the pump intake feed means is thus impeded, the pump simply cavitates in a known manner and to be of a type which is suction regulated, having a check valve means at the pressure outlet side. The advantage of cutting off inlet flow to the pump during straight ahead steering, or at least throttling of such inlet flow by a constantly open throttle passage, is to save energy otherwise wasted in heating the fluid.

Power contains the steering shaft. 1 with symmetrically located axles 2, 3, pump 4 with injection and suction hydraulic lines 5, 6, tank 7 connected to hydraulic line 6, cylindrical spools 8, 9 placed in parallel bores 10, 11 of sleeve 12, and executive hydraulic cylinder 13 .
The spool 8 is made with the sleeves 14–15 and is placed in the bore 10, made with grooves 16, 17, interacting with the sleeves 14, 15. The spool 9 is made with the bits 18, 19 and is placed in the bore 11, made with grooves 20 , 21, interacting with the cores 18, 19. The sleeve 12 is installed in the housing 22 with the formation of an annular cavity 23 connected to the hydroline 5.
At the same time, the grooves 16, 20 are made with two-sided negative overlap for 14, 18, and the grooves 17, 21 are with positive overlap for 15, 19, with the grooves 17, 21 interconnected and with hydroline 6, and the positive overlap 15, 19 is larger in magnitude than the negative overlap of 14, 18. The tank 7 is connected to the bores 10, P between the grooves 16, 17 and 20, 21 and connected to the hydraulic line 6 via an additionally installed choke 24.
The grooves 16, 20 are connected by hydraulic lines 25, 26 to the cavities 27, 28 of the hydraulic cylinder 13. The hydraulic line 5 is connected via valve 29 to the tank 7.
Power steering works as follows.
When the shaft 1 is rotated, the ciphs 2, 3 turn and the spool 8 moves, for example, up, and the spool 9 moves down (according to the drawing). Juice 8 separates the groove 20 from the tank 7, and juice 19 opens the groove 21, providing a connection between the suction line 6 of the hydroline 6 and the tank 7. At the same time, the groove 17 remains open, and the hydroline 25 and


the cavity 27 is connected to the tank 7 through the groove 16. As a result, the working fluid from the hydroline 5 through the cavity 23, the groove 20 and the hydroline 26 enters the cavity 28, and from the cavity 27 is displaced into the tank 7, and hydrO1№1- lindr 13 removes movement determined by turning the steering shaft 1. 1.
